The company’s new Scottish HQ at Turnberry House in West George Street was officially opened today by Mark Hallan, Senior Director EMEA, Scottish Development International. Further expansion of the EMIS team is expected later in 2013.
EMIS will support 525 Scottish GP practices – 51% of the market – that already use or are about to use its software to hold patient records and manage patient care. It follows a move to allow Scottish GPs to choose the software that best meets their needs.
Dr Shaun O’Hanlon, Development and Clinical Director of EMIS and a former GP, will oversee the work of the Scottish team. He said: “We are delighted to be opening for business in the heart of Glasgow city centre, and close to a number of key customers. We are looking forward to working in partnership with clinicians here to further develop our software and help them deliver the highest possible standards of healthcare to their patients.”
Anne MacColl, chief executive of Scottish Development International, said: "Scottish Development International welcomes the opening of EMIS Group's new office in Glasgow, having worked alongside the company to encourage it to view Scotland as an ideal place to locate and invest.
"Scotland boasts a number of strengths in digital health care, with a well-established skills base and track record in the provision of IT, software development and data management services. That EMIS has chosen to create an operational hub in Glasgow is testament to Scotland's growing international reputation in this increasingly important sector."
